Research Agenda with Universities:
The pilot was launched in 2021 with the objective of creating long-term student/youth engagement in ITU’s work through research collaboration with universities and research institutes (based on the capstone model). This initiative helps to raise awareness about ITU’s work and provides young people with an opportunity to collaborate with a community of policymakers, private sector members, and academia members; prepare a young generation of experts who are informed about the latest trends in ICTs, policy, regulatory issues and key areas of ITU’s work. Examples of collaboration with ITU’s Pilot Research Agenda include the Graduate Institute, Switzerland; American University, Washington, D.C., USA; and EU Business School, Switzerland. Please contact academia@itu.int if you are interested to work with ITU on a research agenda topic. The pilot includes topics related to capacity development, cybersecurity, digital inclusion, digital innovation ecosystems, environment, emergency telecommunications, policy and regulation.
Student researchers from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Switzerland, have looked at how information and communication technologies (ICTs) can boost climate action in Africa’s energy and agriculture sectors. Learn more here.
